Yes, it is an important part of our service to share your Lifestyle Medicine Assessment and Plan with any other health care providers you designate. We will also coordinate with them by phone or email to ensure you have a consistent approach to monitoring and adjustinng both your medications and lifestyle approaches to managing your health conditions.
Patients engaged in a program of Lifestyle Medicine with Two Oceans Medicine may receive medication management for symptoms of perimenopause or menopause and for assistance with helping you not smoke or use alcohol or opioids in a way that is not healthy for you.
At the present time we are not prescribing weight loss drugs, such as GLP-1s or phentermine, but we will definitely support those using the drugs, whether just starting, in the midst of weight loss, or those who have plateaued at or above their goal weight. Customizing your nutrition and movement patterns for maintenance of lean muscle mass is definitely part of Lifestyle Medicine.
Health insurance companies spend only 5 cents from each dollar they collect from you or your employer on preventive and primary care. To collect these 5 cents, they force doctors to have many layers of staff and other “middlemen”, taking away the resources that should be spent on you. By contracting directly with you I will guarantee that 100% of your investment in your health with Two Oceans Medicine will go to your care.
You can use your insurance for any recommended labs or medications.
The short answer is, yes. If you have an FSA, then you must be seeking care from Two Oceans to diagnose and/or treat some specific symptoms or an existing condition such as diabetes or insomnia. We can provide you with the necessary documentation so that you can submit your receipts to your plan administrator as coming from an out-of-network provider. An HSA is more flexible and purely preventive care will also be covered. You can use your FSA or HSA cards directly to pay for your Two Oceans Medicine Services.
Medicare has very strict rules to prevent doctors from charging Medicare patients for care that Medicare covers. Following a Lifestyle Medicine care plan involves checking in with a doctor in a way that Medicare in theory pays for. Thus, we ask our Medicare patients to follow through on their Comprehensive Lifestyle Assessment and Plan with their primary care doctor. We can also connect you to other Medicare funded lifestyle health supporting programs that will help you acheive your Care Plan goal such as the Diabetes Prevention or Diabetes Self Management Programs and Silver Sneakers.
